Remember to go back and check out previous waiver wire posts. I don’t like to write up the same waiver claims over and over, but instead bring you new players that could benefit your teams. Waiver Wire Targets (Rostered percentages are based on standard ESPN Leagues)
QB
Baker Mayfield (Browns)- As the fantasy playoffs being teams will be looking for players that have good matchups and can provide value. In the last two weeks Mayfield has been able to throw the ball effectively and utilize his weapons. Besides the Ravens in Week 14, Mayfield will get the Giants and Jets, and if your league goes into Week 17 they have a tough challenge with the Steelers. Rostered in 20.50% of leagues.
RBs
J.D. McKissic (Washington Football Team)- With Antonio Gibson sustaining a toe injury his effectiveness could be impacted. Because of this, you need to pick up McKissic if he is available. McKissic has the ability to be used in the run game and in the passing game, as we have seen throughout the year. Although there is a chance McKissic has been nabbed in your leagues, if he isn’t this needs to be your primary waiver claim. Rostered in 60.80% of leagues.
Cam Akers (Rams)- I know that I wrote up Akers last week, but after seeing his usage in the last two weeks he has scored over 30 fantasy points. Akers has rushed for over 70 yards and scored a touchdown in both games since his return. Based on the snap counts Akers was on the field for 52 of 83 offensive snaps (63%), whereas Darrell Henderson was on for just 18 (22%) and Malcolm Brown even less with 13 (16%). Both Henderson and Brown combined don’t even equal half of Akers’ snaps. It looks like the Rams have finally decided on a true lead back. Rostered in 35.70% of leagues.
WRs
T.Y. Hilton (Colts)- After a disappointing season to this point, Hilton looks to have finally earned the ability to be part of this offense. I don’t know if the Colts finally realized that Hilton could have a positive impact for this team and help them stretch the field, but anyways he looks to be a part going forward. With the Raiders and the Texans coming up the matchups are wonderful for Hilton to continue this late season resurgence. If you are in need of WR help and are uncomfortable with these obscure players being touted as saviors, go look and see if Hilton is available. Rostered in 47.00% of leagues.
Keke Coutee (Texans)- With basically all of Deshaun Watson’s weapons out someone needs to fill the void, and that person is Coutee. In the loss versus the Colts Coutee showed his route running and big play potential as he caught 8 of 9 passes for 141 yards. With Brandin Cooks likely out after he suffered a concussion the bulk of the targets will most likely be allocated to Coutee. Although the matchups going forward are not the best the sheer volume to have production is. Rostered in 12.40% of leagues.
Gabriel Davis (Bills)- As I have written in past posts, once John Brown is absent from the lineup Davis steps in and is an active part of the offense. Even though Davis doesn’t bring the speed and athleticism that Brown does, he has this knack for finding voids in zone coverage and scoring TDs. Believe this stat or not, Davis has more TDs this season than Stefon Diggs, so that is something. Davis won’t likely see any more targets than he has all season, with his average being 3.25 targets a game. With decent matchups in the fantasy playoffs there is value in having Davis on your bench. Rostered in 4.60% of leagues.
TEs
Logan Thomas (Washington Football Team)- I will repeat this statement again, if you are in need for TE help you need to add Thomas! After yesterday’s game fantasy teams that need TE help should be targeting Thomas as a priority claim. With Gibson going down and potentially missing time, I think that Thomas could see an increase in workload, as he has shown to be a vital part of this Washington Football Team offense. With two great matchups in the playoffs, Thomas could be a great addition. Rostered in 24.90% of leagues.
D/ST
Cardinals- For those fantasy teams that have been streaming D/ST this season and need a decent to good play here, the Cardinals have some of the best matchups in the playoffs. I know recently the Giants have looked competent, and they did beat the Seahawks, but the Cardinals defense is better and more aggressive. Add on top of that an Eagles team that just loves to allow their QB to get sacked and turn the ball over and you have a good chance at points. This may not be the best choice, but it does have the potential for good points in the playoffs. Rostered in 21.20% of leagues.
Sleepers
Jalen Hurts (Eagles)- With Carson Wentz benched for the rookie, and Hurts showing more in the game against the Packers, he could be a sneaky play in Week 15 and 16. Hurts brings more rushing ability, which seems to be a necessity with how bad the Eagles offensive line is. When Hurts got into the game this past week he looked comfortable, the rapport with receivers looked better and more in-sync than when Wentz was under center. With the throwing and rushing ability that Hurts brings, he has more value than some traditional QBs. Rostered in 1.40% of leagues.
Ty Johnson (Jets)- After the timeless Frank Gore went out with a concussion Johnson stepped in and assumed the role. Johnson carried the ball 22 times for 104 yards and a TD while also adding 2 receptions for 13 yards. If you were a team that was using Gore as an RB2 or Flex, Johnson showed that he could step right in and provide similar points, if not more. With a good matchup in Week 14 against the Seahawks I think there is good value, however the Jets then get the Rams and Browns, which are not great. This pickup might only be a short term rental. Rostered in 0.30% of leagues.
Cam Sims (Washington Football Team)- As teams have now tried to take Terry McLaurin out of the game for the Washington Football Team, it looks as if Sims could be the compliment. Sims has had some scattered success over the season and with some decent matchups in the next three weeks, we could see some good points from Sims. Obviously, this waiver claim would be for those in deep leagues or as a speculative DFS play. Rostered in 0.20% of leagues.
