Waiver Wire Targets (Rostered percentage based on standard ESPN leagues)

QB

Drew Lock (Broncos)- After a slow start to the season and being sidelined with an injury, Lock has been making progress. This past week Lock had a phenomenal game against the Falcons, a game in which he would go on to throw 313 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Int and rushed for 47 yards and a TD. The tools are there for Lock to be successful, and he has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal. Rookie WRs Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler have begun to make some noise, while Tim Patrick and Noah Fant have been strong contributors. Going forward, Lock gets some favorable matchups, but do be careful because this kid is a gunslinger and will throw some Ints.  Rostered in 18.4% of leagues.

RBs

Duke Johnson (Texans)- The previous game against the Texans saw starting RB David Johnson get taken out of the game after sustaining a concussion. In his absence Duke was able to be effective not only in the run game but also as a pass catcher. The weekly stat lines for Duke have not been great this season, but with Johnson most likely out this week for the game against the Browns, Duke should be a favorite on the waiver wire. Rostered in 16.7% of leagues.

Rex Burkhead (Patriots)- Well based on the game last night we can all agree the Patriots do not look like their former selves. This game saw RB Damien Harris sustain a chest injury and did not return, but prior to this another RB was the more productive asset. Burkhead registered his highest rushing total of the season against the Jets, and most of this occurred even with Harris in the lineup. With Harris questionable for the game this weekend fantasy owners should be proactive and look for the player that will fill the void left by Harris’s absence. Not only should Burkhead get touches as a traditional back, but if the Patriots are down, which they most likely will be, Burkhead will see targets that could really help increase his impact for your rosters.  Rostered in 27.3% of leagues.

WRs

Christian Kirk (Cardinals)- So the home run hitter of the Cardinals team isn’t DeAndre Hopkins or the speedster out of UMass Andy Isabella, but the Captain Kirk. Kirk as a player for your fantasy lineups is very touchdown dependent. But, that is what he has done this season. As long as Murray is slinging the ball all around the yard and Kirk is catching TDs he’s a must claim on the waiver wire, and a strong flex play. If he is available in your league he should be a priority, because we can all use a boom-or-bust player. Rostered in 63.4% of leagues.

Curtis Samuel (Panthers)- After a lengthy absence because of a high ankle sprain, McCaffrey seems to be banged up yet again. While McCaffrey was on IR the Panthers had to get creative with their lack of RBs, and in doing so discovered how impactful Samuel could truly be. With the uncertainty of McCaffrey, again Samuel is a must add. Since this revelation by the Panthers offensive staff Samuel has registered double digit fantasy points. Rostered in 52.6% of leagues.

David Moore (Seahawks)- If you are looking for a piece of the Seahawks passing game and you were not fortunate to get either Tyler Lockett or DK Metcalf, here is your chance. Moore has been a solid contributor for the Seahawks and his numbers show that he is not the first or second target. But, his numbers are worth a look, and who knows maybe you’ll be making Moore room on your rosters. Okay, I am sorry I just couldn’t help myself. Rostered in 2.7% of leagues.

TE

Irv Smith Jr. (Vikings)- It finally seems like the Vikings realized they had a weapon at the TE position. Since Week 5 Smith has been steady contributor, and has seen a consistent number of targets. Smith has been able to be provide an outlet for Kirk Cousins and even a viable option in the redzone. With those dealing with bad or inconsistent TEs, maybe give Smith a look. Rostered in 4.4% of leagues.

D/ST

Packers- The Packers have a fairly decent matchup this week with the Jaguars coming to Titletown USA. The Jaguars are one of the more inefficient teams on offense. They are the 23rd ranked team against defenses, and with the Packers starting to get turnovers, this could be a nice play. The only thing I worry about is Robinson running all over the Packers’ defense. Rostered in 25.3% of leagues.

Sleepers

KJ Hamler (Broncos)- As I alluded to above Hamler has started to become a part of this Broncos offense. Hamler’s athleticism is a nice compliment to Jeudy and Patrick, as his speed stretches the field and creates more opportunities. This week the Broncos have a fairly good matchup against the Raiders who give up points to QBs and WRs.  Rostered in 2.6% of leagues.

Kalen Ballage (Chargers Practice Squad)- This is a completely speculative write up, and I am not suggesting you waste a waiver claim on him just yet. But, what I am saying is keep an eye on the Chargers injury report for this week. If Troymaine Pope is still out with a concussion, Justin Jackson is held out because of his knee, and Austin Ekeler still isn’t activated then you quickly claim Ballage. As we have seen, the Chargers do not like Joshua Kelley as much as we thought and they have proved that to us by giving Ballage the goal line carries. So if all of the backs are out and you are in need of an RB this could be a decent option, or a super sleeper for daily fantasy. Rostered in 0.3% of leagues.

All aboard the Wentz-Wagon?

Week 8 Loves & Hates Loves QBs Carson Wentz (Eagles)- The number 7 QB this season is Wentz , who gets a Cowboys team that has been beaten up in recent weeks. No matter who Wentz has had to throw to this season, all he has done is put up big numbers. Through all the injuries to the wide receivers, running backs, and tight ends, Wentz has been able to cover up the Eagle’s deficiencies. The Cowboys have one of the worst defenses in the NFL across the board. The Cowboys are 23rd against QBs, 24th for RBs, 25th for WRs, and 23rd for TEs. These rankings paint a picture of a defense that can be shredded. Further, the Cowboys have allowed on average 20.71 points to QBs. With Travis Fulgham being a steady contributor, the two should be able to tear apart the Cowboys defense.   Dereck Carr (Raiders)- This game against the Browns has the makings to be a high scoring affair. Both defenses are poor when it comes to defending opposing QBs and WRs. The Browns last week were in a shootout...

That’s the way we became the BRADY BUNCH!

Week 9 Loves & Hates Loves QBs Tom Brady (Buccaneers)- Brady gets one of the easier matchups this week when he goes up against the Saints. This season Brady ranks as the 5th QB, he has put up solid numbers all season, with the exception of the Panthers game in Week 2. Getting back to the game this week, the Saints put up little challenge to QBs (27th), WRs (23rd), and TEs (30th). The Saints defense has been thrown on this season, and with strong WRs, and TEs on the Buccaneers, Brady should be able to put up another big performance. Plus you should be looking to stack Brady with either Mike Evans or Rob Gronkowski .   Josh Allen (Bills)- Allen gets one of the best matchups anyone could ask for this week. He gets a Seahawks team that doesn’t know how to stop, or even slow down the pass. The Seahawks are ranked 31st against QBs, and have allowed 25.40 points. The stats that the Seahawks have allowed this season for QBs is shocking for the once fabled Legion of Boom. They h...
