Week 4 Loves
Quarterback
Aaron Rodgers- Rodgers has the privilege playing the Falcons this week who let up 28.84 points to the likes of Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles. After week 3 the Falcons rank 32nd versus opposing QBs, 26th against WRs, and 31st with TEs. This is a recipe for success for Rodgers, who has looked amazing thus far. With weapons at each position, Rodgers has the ability to absolutely steamroll the Falcons. If Davante Adams returns to the lineup, I do not know how Falcons play defense. I look for Rodgers to have a strong performance.
Matt Stafford- Stafford and the Lions face off against the Saints. Currently on the season the Saints rank 27th against opposing QBs. With Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones Jr, and T.J. Hockenson healthy, Stafford should be able to have a good day versus the Saints. Last week, Rodgers and the Packers got into a shoot out with the Saints. Rodgers was able to put up great numbers and ended the week with 24.52 points. I think with the weapons Stafford has he should be able to have a good game.
Running Backs
Darnell Henderson- The Rams play the Giants this week, who gave up 43.10 points to the 49ers’ Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson Jr. Henderson faced a strong Buffalo Bills team last week, and was still able to have a great day as he rushed for 114 yards and scored. I look for Henderson to have another big week versus the Giants sorry rush defense.
Kenyon Drake- This week Drake gets the Panthers, who on the season are ranked 31st against opposing RBs. This has the makings for a get right game. As of late, Drake has not been utilized in the passing game. However, with how bad the Panthers have been stopping running backs, Drake should be able to take advantage. If he can’t get going this week it may be time to panic and move on.
Wide Receivers
Amari Cooper- Cooper this week gets another easy test with the Browns coming to town. The Browns are ranked 27th against opposing WRs, with Cooper leading the team in targets with 35. Cooper has been the most consistent of the Cowboys WRs when it comes to production and game involvement. Although Cooper has not scored a touchdown this season, he has had the yards and receptions you love. Hopefully Cooper will be able to find the elusive touchdown this week and help your fantasy teams.
Odell Beckham Jr.- Based on how games have gone for the Cowboys in past weeks, I think this week’s game agains the Browns can follow suit. The Cowboys offense is explosive, and their defense ranks 9th against opposing RBs. On the other hand, their defense is 30th against QBs while also being 31st against WRs. This could be the formula for a vintage OBJ performance.
Tight Ends
T.J. Hockenson- Hockenson has the Saints this week, as previously described in my Matt Stafford description. Last week the Saints gave up 31.40 points to the Packers TEs. The Packers TEs would not be classified as top tight ends just yet, but they were able to take full advantage. The Saints are dead last against TEs, and Hockenson has been very consistent. This should allow for a good day against this defense.
Robert Tonyan- Can the 3rd year undrafted man continue his hot streak, and start making a name for himself as a fantasy asset? The Packers have the luxury of playing the Falcons, who have been torched in recent weeks, and are currently 31st against TEs. If Adams is healthy, the Falcons will have to focus more attention elsewhere leaving someone with a great opportunity. This could be another big day for Tonyan.
D/ST
Rams- The Rams hit the jackpot this week by getting the Giants. The Giants got run-over by a banged up 49ers team that is missing Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas (both out for the year). With a healthy and fierce defensive front, the Rams should dominate this game, and be able to get after the Giants offense.
Week 4 Hates
Quarterback
Kyler Murray- Murray and the Cardinals head to Carolina to fave off against the Panthers. This should be a challenge for Murray and may come as a surprise, but the Panthers are ranked 3rd against opposing QB. The Panthers have allowed on average 12.31 points. Although the Panthers have not faced a mobile quarterback, they have faced Derek Carr, Tom Brady, and Justin Herbert. This week I am not expecting a big game out of Murray.
Running Back
Derrick Henry- It looks like Henry and the Titans pulled the short straw this week. The Steelers have the 2nd best defense when it comes to facing RBs. In three weeks they have allowed 121 yards and 1 touchdown, along with 12 receptions for 117 yards and 1 touchdown through the air. I look for the Steelers to shut down Henry.
Wide Receiver
Allen Robinson- This week Robinson faces off against a stifling Colts defense. The Colts rank 1st against opposing QBs, and 3rd with WRs. The Bears will be starting Foles over Trubisky. Even with this change at QB, I don’t like the matchup for Robinson and the Bears.
Tight End
Travis Kelce- This might be a little bit of recency bias here, but I am not in love with this matchup for Kelce. Last week the Patriots completely removed Darren Waller from the Raiders offense, and only allowed him 2 catches for 9 yards. I am not expecting that same stat line here, one, because the Chiefs have more weapons, and two, I think Kelce is the best pass catching TE in the league. However, I am not anticipating Kelce as the top TE at the end of the week, or even in the Top 5.
