Week 16 Loves & Hates
Nice
QBs
Aaron Roders (Packers)
Justin Herbert (Chargers)- Although the Broncos haven’t allowed the most passing yards or TDs over the last four weeks, they have been exploited by mobile QBs and Herbert has that ability. In the last four weeks the Broncos have allowed 5 rushing TDs to QBs, and with Herberts ability to extend plays and take off running, I think he has the chance to pick up a TD on the ground. What could be difficult is the Broncos pass defense, which is currently 16th against WRs and 18th against TEs. The passing game might not be as explosive, but with how Herbert has played all year I think we could see a good showing from the potential OROY.
Jalen Hurts (Eagles)
Baker Mayfield (Browns)
Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins)
Tom Brady (Buccaneers)
RBs
David Montgomery (Bears)- I hate that I have to keep doing this, but it’s just unfortunately the right answer. Over the last four weeks Montgomery has been the leading RB in fantasy and this week against the Jaguars I see that continuing. Over the last four weeks the Jaguars have become the worst team against RBs and have absolutely been taken advantage of. They have allowed 667 rushing yards, 4 TDs, 20 receptions for 199 receiving yards and 1 TD. With how Montgomery has been running, I can see him taking over this game.
Miles Sanders (Eagles)
Salvon Ahmed/Myles Gaskin (Dolphins)- If Gaskin is out start Ahmed, if Gaskin is in start him.
Austin Ekeler (Chargers)
Aaron Jones (Packers)
WRs
D.J. Moore (Panthers)
Tyreek Hill (Chiefs)
Marvin Jones Jr. (Lions)
Antonio Brown/Mike Evans (Buccaneers)- With all of the injuries the Lions have been dealing with in their secondary, it is hard to not pick on them. With Brown and Evans now finally on the same page as Brady we could see a shootout in the Motor City. Both the Buccaneers and the Lions are terrible against QBs and WRs over the last four weeks. The Lions are 32nd against QBs and 31st against WRs, while the Bucs are 31st against QBs and 32 against WRs. Over this span of time the Lions have allowed 57 receptions for 860 yards and 6 TDs to WRs. With Brown and Evan’s big play ability and knack for the end zone we could see them light up the scoreboard.
Allen Robinson (Bears)
Cole Beasley (Bills)
TEs
Austin Hooper (Browns)- When I look for a TE Love I like when I see a good TE against a bad defense, and I get real excited when I see that the bad defense has allowed 6, count them, 6 TDs to TEs in four weeks. Over four weeks the Jets have been absolutely horrendous against TEs and have allowed 30 receptions for 415 yards and 6 TDs (the most in each category). Hooper and Mayfield have been connecting recently and with this gift you would be crazy not to start Hooper.
Logan Thomas (Washington Football Team)
Mark Andrews (Ravens)
Hayden Hurst (Falcons)
Noah Fant (Broncos)
D/ST
Dolphins- This year has been fun watching the Dolphins defense run around and play aggressive. This week with the Raiders there is a chance the Dolphins continue this crazy run of INTs and just all around good defense. In the last four weeks the Raiders have allowed 8 sacks, 5 INTs, 6 fumble recoveries, and 2 defensive scores. This is just a perfect storm for the Dolphins to bully the Raiders offense, with Carr banged up and limited with his mobility. The ballhawks for the Dolphins should have a field day. In addition to the great pass defense, the Dolphins are the top ranked team against RBs. They have allowed 247 rushing yards 0 TDs, 18 receptions for 145 receiving yards and 0 TDs. Let’s just say things don’t look great for the Silver and Black.
Rams
Ravens
Bears
Browns
Naughty
QBs
Derek Carr (Raiders)
Deshaun Watson (Texans)- I know Watson is a way better QB than Ben Roethlisberger, but currently Watson has very few skilled receivers. The Bengals last week against the Steelers, who have three very good receivers, absolutely shut them down. Now this week the Texans are rolling out Brandin Cooks and Keke Coutee. Not to mention the Bengals are currently the 5th ranked team against QBs and have only allowed 895 passing yards, 4 TDs, with 1 Int over the last four weeks. If a high powered Steelers team could barley do anything to this Bengals defense, what makes you think a depleted Texans WR group and Watson could do better?
Russell Wilson (Seahawks)
Ryan Tannehill (Titans)
Kyler Murray (Cardinals)
RBs
Josh Jacobs (Raiders)
D’Andre Swift (Lions)- I have liked what the rookie Swift has done this year, but this game ain’t looking good. The Buccaneers throughout this entire season have been one of the top units, and over the last four weeks they are ranked 6th. In this time they have allowed 201 rushing yards, 1 TD, 20 receptions for 121 receiving yards and 0 TDs. With the stout defensive front of the Bucs and their ability to run and chase RBs with Devin White and Lavonte David I just can’t see how Swift will be able to do anything. To me this looks like a game Matthew Stafford will have to do it all.
Jonathan Taylor (Colts)
Mike Davis/Christian McCaffrey (Panthers)
Melvin Gordon (Broncos)
WRs
DK Metcalf (Seahawks)- Let us go back to Week 10 when the Rams and Seahawks previously played. The Rams held the Seahawks to 12 receptions for 147 yards, in that game Metcalf caught 2 passes for 28 yards. In this rematch we should see Jalen Ramsey shadow Metcalf again. I am not expecting the same 2 for 28 stat line that occurred the previous time they played, but I am not expecting anything spectacular either. This season when Metcalf has been matched up on bigger physical corners he hasn’t done that well. Plus with the defensive line of the Rams being able to wreak havoc at will there just might not be enough time for Wilson to wait for long routes to develop.
Justin Jefferson (Vikings)
Nelson Agholor (Raiders)
T.Y. Hilton (Colts)
Robert Woods (Rams)
TEs
Dallas Goedert (Eagles)
Darren Waller (Raiders)
Evan Engram (Giants)- This “Pro Bowler” should be able to handle this challenge, that is if he has the ability. The Ravens have been tough against TEs in the recent weeks, as they have only allowed 22 receptions for 220 yards with 0 TDs. If Engram can produce in this spot I would truly be shocked, but I don’t think he will be able to. This Ravens defense has players that can matchup against him well and contain him. If he can’t produce in this spot then we all know players like Thomas and Robert Tonyan were absolutely snubbed, but I think we already knew that.
Dan Arnold (Cardinals)
Irv Smith Jr. (Vikings)
