Week 9 Waiver Wire Targets (Rostered percentages based on standard ESPN leagues)
QB
Baker Mayfield (Browns)- Last week against the Raiders was highlighted by the weather rather than the QB play. Both QBs saw their production drop and the score was a strong indicator. I know I predicted a shootout, but Mother Nature had other plans. Going forward, Mayfield should have a better time, weather permitting, as he gets some favorable matchups. Even with OBJ lost for the year there are still top targets on this team. Look for Rashard Higgins, Jarvis Landry, and Austin Hooper to be heavily involved going forward. Rostered in 31.50% of leagues.
RBs
Zack Moss (Bills)- Well my thoughts have now come true. It looks like the Bills have a two-headed monster in the backfield, with Moss getting the valuable goal line touches. This was evident against the Patriots as Moss ran for 81 yards and 2 TDs. Although this was one week of a good outing, I think this 50-50 split of the Bills backfield is how it continues. Rostered in 42.60% of leagues.
Damien Harris (Patriots)- This waiver addition is based on how the Patriots offense seems to be going. It caught me by surprise this year at how little the Patriots throw the ball. But, with how few options they have had at WR, the team has turned into a run heavy team. The back that seems to be the one to grab is Harris, although this is super game script dependent. Harris is rarely, if ever, used in the passing game. This means that on the chance the team is down and they need to play catch up, Harris will not be utilized. So proceed with caution. Rostered in 45.30% of leagues.
WRs
Curtis Samuel (Panthers)- Over the past couple of weeks we have seen Samuel blossom into a do-it-all Swiss army knife for the Panthers. This usage came out of necessity with Christian McCaffrey’s injury and the team looking for a spark. Samuel gave the Panthers this by being an elusive RB and receiver. He has immense upside as a player, but this is a boom or bust play. With that said, I still like him. Rostered in 45.00% of leagues.
Corey Davis (Titans)- Whoever thought the Titans would have a respectable passing attack is full of it. I know going into this year my vision for this team was heavy sets and power football. Power football is still their identity, but they have a two studs at WR. A.J. Brown has proven to be the number one target for this team, with his refined route running and sure hands he is a QBs dream. Davis brings a different set of skills to the party. He is a more imposing athlete both in stature and athletic ability. Davis will give the big play potential and sometimes even redzone targets. Now that the band seems to be healthy for the Titans, I like what I am seeing. Rostered in 52.40% of leagues.
Jalen Reagor (Eagles)- After his hiatus from the starting lineup, due to a thumb injury, the Eagle’s first rounder is back and making an impact. Reagor brings the downfield element the team has been missing, not to mention his explosiveness. With DeSean Jackson injured, Reagor fills in and to be honest is an upgrade. As a complimentary piece to Travis Fulgham, Reagor should be able to continue making an impact for this Eagles team. With the team on Bye week some might try to wait until next week to pick him up, but if you have a spot this week I would definitely store and stash him. Rostered in 20.40% of leagues.
TEs
Trey Burton (Colts)- With George Kittle landing on IR for the 49ers, most fantasy owners are scrambling to fill his spot. Well, look no further than Burton. The Colts have shown a they will be creative with getting Burton involved in the game. With his steady targets he is a great option for teams in need of TE help. Rostered in 15.90% of leagues.
D/ST
Packers- Okay, now hear me out. Sunday was not a good look for the Pack, they just did not look good at all. But Thursday, they get a beat up 49ers team without multiple star players. With the 49ers without their QB, TE, WR, and multiple RBs, who do the Packers really have to be worried about? If you are an owner that streams and is willing to take a risk maybe try some cheese. Rostered in 19.10% of leagues.
Sleepers
Logan Thomas (Washington Football Team)- From being drafted as a QB, to then making the transition to TE Thomas has been slowly making a name for himself in this league. Thomas has seen very consistent targets this season, and with Kyle Allen at QB he definitely has value. I would not expect him to produce top end TE numbers, but he will be a reliable target. If you were an owner that had Kittle on their roster Thomas should be on your radar. Rostered in 11.80% of leagues.
Mohamed Sanu Sr.(Free Agent)- This waiver addition is purely speculation. Sanu worked out for the Lion recently, and now Kenny Golladay is considered week-week with a hip injury. If the team goes with a vet Sanu is your guy. Rostered in 0.60% of leagues.
Marvin Hall (Lions)- If the Lions don’t sign Sanu, as I have speculated above they may try to stay in-house. If this is the route they decide on, then I would expect Hall to be the beneficiary. In the game against the Colts, Hall was targeted seven times by Stafford. On these seven throws Hall caught four and had 113 yards and a TD. Hall looks to be the big play guy, so his production could be quite skewed. Rostered in 0.00% of leagues.
Jordan Wilkins (Colts)- The Colts backfield has officially become a mess. With Jonathon Taylor being solid so far this year, it was looking like his backfield. Then Sunday happened and Wilkins was the lead back and Taylor was relegated to the bench. To be honest I have no idea how to interpret what happened here, all I will say is maybe roster Wilkins so you can have a jump on everyone else. Because for all we know, Frank Reich might lean on Wilkins more and more, while Taylor fades away. Rostered in 0.90% of leagues.
