Injuries
Nick Chubb (Browns)- Chubb was injured during Sunday’s game, when the RB was rolled up on during pass protection. Chubb sustained only a MCL sprain. This incident could’ve easily ended his season, but currently he should only miss a few weeks as he recovers from this injury.
Julio Jones (Falcons)- Jones has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury for the start of the season. In Monday’s game Jones gave it a go, however, this decision reaggravated his ailing hamstring. This decision to play in the game Monday has set Jones back quite a ways. This injury could last for quite some time, so a replacement on your fantasy teams is necessary.
O.J. Howard (Buccaneers)- The young TE for the Bucs looked ready this year to make an impact with the addition of Brady. This dream, however, has to be put on hold. Howard suffered an achilles injury that will sideline him for the year. Howard up to this point was not a top target, but he was a player that could get you consistent points out of the TE position. With how few impactful TEs there are in the league, this does sting.
Austin Ekeler (Chargers)- The Chargers top running back will be sidelined for quite some time after he suffered a hamstring injury against the Buccaneers, which has landed him on IR. This injury hurts many teams. Ekeler was starting to hit his stride in this offense and show why the team was willing to let Gordon walk in Free Agency. With Ekeler gone this will leave a large void on most rosters.
Waiver Wire (Roster % is based off of ESPN leagues)
QBs
Justin Herbert (Chargers)- Since Tyrod Taylor sustained that unfortunate injury at the hands of the Chargers Medical Staff, Herbert has looked great. He has shown the ability to go through his progressions and deliver passes to any receiver on the team, as was apparent this past weekend. Even with the statements coach Anthony Lynn made this year, I do not see the team going back to Taylor unless Herbert has a catastrophic couple of weeks, or the more likely scenario in 2020, an injury. If you are looking for a streamable QB for a bye week or an upgrade, Herbert is a good option. Rostered in 15.8% of leagues.
RBs
D’Ernest Johnson (Browns)- As stated above, Chubb will be sidelined for a few weeks while he deals with the MCL sprain. This injury to the lead back of the Browns pushes Johnson to the second position. The Browns have showed this season that they will be using multiple RBs in their offense. This was Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Now this will be Hunt and Johnson. Johnson is a must add. Rostered in 0.4% of leagues.
Justin Jackson (Chargers)- This waiver addition is not due to immense talent, but rather out of opportunity. Ekeler was injured during the game versus the Bucs. This injury opened the door for rookie Joshua Kelley, and Jackson. The two backs could be used in a committee type scheme, as I don’t currently see either as a star RB. If you had Ekeler, you need to roster one or both of these backs. Rostered in % of leagues.
Chase Edmonds (Cardinals)- On Sunday it seemed like starter Kenyon Drake could not get going. Drake ended the day with a pedestrian 3.5 points, and was knocked out of the game with a chest injury. However, Edmonds took over and registered a mere 16 yards rushing, but did catch 5 passes for 24 yards and a touchdown. Drake’s injury is not long term so Edmonds’ role could stay where it is. This might be a good “handcuff” or trade piece if you get him on the waiver wire. Rostered in 33.6% of leagues.
WRs
Zach Pascal (Colts)- Pascal has always been a consistent contributor at the WR position for the Colts, but was always placed lower on the depth chart. This year was nothing different, as Pascal got buried in the depth chart. However, like years past the Colts experience injuries at the WR position and Pascal grabs hold of his opportunity and performs. Pascal won’t give you the high end numbers, but what he will provide is consistency and the occasional outstanding game. If you are a team that is hurting at the WR position give Pascal a glance. Rostered in 3.4% of leagues.
Tee Higgins (Bengal’s)- The Bengals looked good in their win over the Jaguars, with rookie WR Higgins becoming a strong piece in this offense. At this point it seems that A.J. Green’s reign has come to an end, and young WRs Tyler Boyd and Higgins are here to pick up. Higgins has showed in past weeks that he can provide a huge performance, while also giving a consistent baseline for points. Rostered in 36.6% of leagues.
TEs
Eric Ebron (Steelers) PSA- When doing this week to week, I expect certain players to be rostered in a majority of leagues. After week 4 we still have some top TE targets available. Ebron currently is rostered in less than a third of all leagues. Ebron is the top TE on the Steelers, and has a very favorable matchup this week. If he is not rostered he is a must add. Rostered in 33.2% of leagues.
D/ST
Cardinals- Not to harp on the Jets, but they are not a strong team. The Cardinals rank 3rd on the season against opposing WRs, and with the Jets receivers not being world class, I like this match up. Rostered in 52.9% of leagues.
Sleepers
Cameron Brate (Buccaneers)- As we have all seen this season, and in years past, Bruce Arians does not particularly show case the TE position. But, with the recent injury to Howard, and Chris Godwin still hurt, there are targets still up for grabs in the offense. Brate was implemented into this game script, and caught a touchdown prior to Howard’s injury. I think going forward the Harvard man could become a security blanket for Brady as Brate has shown to be a consistent and reliable target. Rostered in 0.2% of leagues.
Olamide Zaccheus (Falcons)- With Jones re-injuring his hamstring, Matt Ryan and the Falcons will need other players to step up. Last night once Jones went out, Ryan looked for Zaccheus. Zaccheus was targeted 9 times and caught 8 for 86 yards. Since week 2, Zaccheus has seen his involvement in the offense increase. With Jones out this could be a good addition for points. Rostered in 0.7% of leagues.
Ke’Shawn Vaughn (Buccaneers)- The Buccaneers backfield currently is a cluster (you know what). This week Leonard Fournette was out due to an ankle injury, which allowed Ronald Jones II to start, and Vaughn to provide the change of pace. Vaughn is someone I would keep my eye on. If Fournette is held out of the lineup or Jones goes down, Vaughn will be a necessity. But for now, just keep tabs on the rookie. Rostered in 4.5% of leagues.
